Available Field Team Positions
POSITIONS: Attorneys, asylum experts, and interpreters for Arabic and Farsi. Qualified asylum attorneys are encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with the Greek or other EU asylum system. 1-2 years experience in aid work or crisis management. Attorneys should be qualified to provide legal advice and willing to work under the supervision of, or alongside, locally licensed colleagues. Most importantly, every applicant must be motivated and resilient.
PLACEMENT & LOCATION: Volunteers may be based on the islands or mainland, based on both volunteer preference and ongoing field need. Missions are physically and emotionally exhausting. Please be prepared to operate nonetheless.
DURATION: A field mission is at least TWO weeks. Long term volunteers are particularly encouraged to apply. Repeat Advocates always welcome.
LOGISTICS: Housing may be available, based on placement. The volunteer is responsible for their own transport to and from Greece. Advocates Abroad may be able to reimburse public transport costs within Greece.
PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING: In-depth, challenging legal and non-legal training sessions on the current field situation and Greek asylum procedures are MANDATORY for all field positions. Training sessions and related materials shall be provided, and are expected to be studied thoroughly prior to commencement of volunteer activities and arrival in Greece.
